Founded in 2011 during the Berlin Film Festival, Europa International is the new European organization for films international distributors. The idea was to have a new face for this profession, which represents an essential segment of the European cinematographic and audiovisual sector.
Its objective is to provide a community service by creating a network of European international distributors in order to represent the profession and defend its general interests. Its aim is to improve and increase the circulation of audiovisual works and films inside and outside the European Union.
Europa International is composed of European films international distributors, representative in terms of nationality and type of structure. It is an added value for international distributors, to have a main spokesman for national and European authorities.
Its first actions are:
- To pool and share information and experiences
- To seek a common position and organize common actions
- To develop collaboration and interaction with distributors and exhibitors
- To promote a larger circulation of the European films worldwide.

He gets a strategic place – by supervising the deals and controlling releases costs on each territory – and a special and privileged relationship with all festivals in the world.
He works together with producers often from writing stage and takes part from financial settlement stage. He establishes cooperation with producers by the provision of financing support through pre-sales or co-productions. He takes an active part in financing investigation outside the national territory with producers.
He promotes talents in pushing forward films in festivals.
He gets a technical evaluation and “know-how” of the market: he knows the movie theaters where the films will be distributed, he follows the releases. He participates to the development of marketing (teasers, posters, press releases) and he plans out an editorial policy:
